This past year we’ve both been learning and playing with a tool called the Scroll Saw. It’s amazing what kind of cool details and curves you can cut quickly on this thing! We started with little teddy bears, Christmas trees, bunnies … and graduated to something a bit more sophisticated.
This chicken was cut from 1/4″ plywood (low-grade) and painted by me. My Mom is a huge fan of chickens (hers are free range hens) and this was for her. I added a hanger after sealing the paint job with a few coats of polyurethane to protect it from the weather. Right now it’s hanging inside because she likes to look at it. 🙂
For only a few dollars in plywood, you can do a custom door-hanger like this one. It’s just a matter of using a grid to enlarge the silhouette.
